Specialty coffee can sound a bit serious sometimes. Processing methods. Elevation. Flavour wheels. All important, yes. But for us, it really comes down to one thing — caring about the coffee from start to finish.
At Groundskeeper Willie, that happens right here in Moffat Beach.
We source the beans. We roast them. We pack them. Usually with music playing too loudly and someone talking about grind size over a flat white. Nothing is shipped off to someone else to “handle”. If it has our name on it, it’s passed through our hands first.
Groundskeeper Willie was started by Will and Attie, and it’s still run by Will and Attie. Family owned, slightly chaotic, very committed to good espresso. Moffat Beach born and proudly staying that way.
Roasting on site means the coffee is fresh, we can tweak things constantly, and we actually know what’s in your cup because we made it. No mystery timelines. No warehouse limbo. Just small-batch specialty coffee roasted a few metres from the bar.
We’re not big on frills. You won’t find us talking in riddles about stone fruit acidity unless you ask. What we do love is conversation, handing you a cup, and letting you taste for yourself. That’s the fun part.
Some people discover us online, some wander in because they smell coffee in the air, and some have been with us since the early days when it was mostly an idea and a roasting machine. All are welcome.
