The Bogan Holiday - On Leash
This one’s a first for us — our very first Indonesian coffee — and crikey, we’ve started strong.
Sourced from the Frinsa Collective in West Java, this washed lot comes through Wildan Mustofa and family, a crew known for pushing processing boundaries in a region famous for doing things the old-school way. Cafe Imports played matchmaker on this one, and after a few cups we were fully committed.
The Frinsa Collective works with neighbouring smallholders, processing everything back at the family estate with plenty of care and precision. Cherries are sorted, depulped and washed the same day they land, before drying slowly under the Java sun.
In the cup it’s full, round and buttery as all get-out, with caramel sweetness, cooked blueberry, mellow orange and roasted pecan rolling through the middle. There’s a hearty dessert-like richness to it — smooth, slightly coconut rough, with an oily (in a good way) lingering mouthfeel that hangs around like a long weekend in Bali. Bit of a bulletproof coffee vibe without needing to chuck butter in it yourself.
Comforting, rich and dangerously easy to sink.
